Extra Energy

In the past two weeks, I have managed to "clean up" my diet quite drastically from "before."   Essentially, I've cut out 95-100% of all "white foods."  No breads.  No pasta.  Maybe a few 'added sugars' here or there (but I'm reading labels much more closely and am consciously avoiding when possible.)   No dairy.

I'm eating more veggies.  I'm eating more fruit.  I'm trying new foods, new recipes, and new ways of looking at foods.  Last night we had "Spaghetti Squash with Marinara Sauce and Ground Bison.   It was really tasty.

I haven't had a soda in 8 days.   That's been the toughest.  I'm trying to look at soda as a treat.  As in - If I'm going to have one, it's going to be worth it.  Like a frosty real coca-cola in a glass bottle.  I don't want to cheat myself by getting a 12 ounce Dixie cup from the soda machine at work (which is not great soda at all.)

I've been exercising consistently.  Three days of crossfit.  Three-ish days of marathon training.

And do you know what, I have gobs of energy.  Seriously, sitting at my desk is a chore.  I feel like I'm bouncing all over the place.  I am constantly looking for reasons to get up and walk around the office.  It's almost jittery - and it's kind of annoying!  Otherwise, I feel great (and am down 4-5 pounds over the last week, which I'm attributing to the curtailing of icky carbs and the increase in water intake.

Ok.  I've sat here long enough.  I need to move!

  1. Good for you! Way to go, Lauren!

You are brave girl to do the spaghetti squash. I would have caved and made whole wheat pasta.
