Making Choices

The past two weeks have been a roller coaster ride for me.  Many things have been going on and something had to give.  And here we are, almost two weeks later, and I'm finally finding some time to rattle off a blog post.

There was some discussion, serious discussion, about simplifying our life.  Starting over with less stuff in a less hectic town with less hectic jobs.  Slowing down.  Stopping in some instances.   But, then, I had to step back and say "Wait.  I really love my job.  I'm on a career path that I'm excited about.  I like what the future holds."   To the point that I admit that "If I won the lottery, I'm not sure I'd quit my job."  Yeah.

But, this is lead to some discussions on making sure I'm doing the things I need to do now to get where I need to be.  Setting a time table.  Setting some short- medium- and long-term goals.  Professional goals.  Personal goals.  Athletic goals.  To borrow from the 7 Habits, I'm trying to begin with the end in mind.

I read a quote today on another blog today.  "If you really want to do something, you'll find a way.  If you don't you'll find an excuse."  (Jim Rohn)

I make a lot of excuses, about things I think I want.  Going forward, I'm just going to find a way.

  1. ooh I love that quote - SO true. Best of luck setting and achieving your goals - it sounds like you'll feel much better once this is carved out and you know where to focus.

On another note - THANK YOU for the great suggestion on free passes to gyms. I'm SO doing it. Love it!
