Guilty Pleasures

Biggest Loser is one of my guilty pleasures.  I'm not sure what it is about this show that sucks me in.  I love the transformations.  I love the challenges.  I love Bob.  I love Jillian.  I even love the crying - because Biggest Loser wouldn't be The Biggest Loser if somebody didn't cry every stinking week.

I opted to ride my bike on the trainer this morning.  In my wee hour of the morning spinning, I was grateful for my new bike for a new reason.  It's components are way quieter than my hybrid.  Quiet enough that I can spin comfortably in the bedroom while James snoozes away for another hour and a half.   (He doesn't get up until after I'm out of the shower.)

I had hoped to still get my six mile run in tonight, but the fates conspired against me.  Traffic, stupid people at Wal-Mart, picking Tyler up from wrestling, cooking dinner, and then school issues with J.B.  I'm working hard at not 'feeding' off the emotion from James.  Sometimes, when one of us gets upset about something, the other gets upset also - and then the emotions escalate to a dangerous level.   This is really bad when it involves the kids, like a snowflake that rolls into an avalanche.   We're both aware of it, so we try to take a step back when it starts happening.

By the time a compromise/resolution was reached, it was after 9.   Bed time is 10, so (le sigh) no run tonight.  I think I'll try to run it tomorrow night.  The plan is to go to spin class on Thursday, so that won't be back to back run days.

One last note for this ridiculous random & boring post - I live in Atlanta.  So, what.the.heck is up with this cold weather!?  It irks me to watch the weather & see "Average High" in the 50 and it's barely getting above freezing.  I don't like cold weather.  I don't do well in cold weather.  Enough is enough!  Bring back the moderate temps!!!

  1. I KNOW - it's SO freaking cold here. It makes me sad. Good for you on the 10 p.m. bedtime! I shoot for 11 p.m. but need to get more sleep! I'm watching Biggest Loser right now. :)

  2. Lauren, I don't think 2009 was an epic fail. You may not have reached all of your goals, but you made significant progress. Go back and read your posts from the beginning of the year. You wouldn't have powered through the 10K (while sick!) last year and you were dealing with a lot of stuff from the biomom. And, look how good you are doing already in 2010 with the consistency, the run group and the emotional stuff. You rock!

  3. This weather is horrible!! If it's going to be this cold, I'd like to see some snow at least.
