Angie, Angie, You Can't Say We Never Tried

Angie Angie

Angie, Angie,
You can't say we never tried

A fellow CrossFit Enthusiast dropped by the gym last night right before the workout.  She spilled the beans about what today's workout entailed.  "A Hundred of Everything," she said.

The trainer asked, "You're still coming, right?"

"Yep!" I gave with false enthusiasm.  Fake it til you make it, right?

Once I looked at the workout and realized I'd be hanging out with my girl Angie this morning, I still struggled to motivate myself to get out of the bed.  James even tempted the "sleeping in," but I knew he'd only made it to CF once this week.  He needed me to suck it up and go.

Warm-Up was 7 rounds of Tabata Jump Rope, followed by 10 burpees. Oh Joy, Oh Bliss.
3-2-1 Go!

Because of the size of the class, we had to stagger start.  That means some people don't necessarily start on the first exercise.  You just go in order.   The Rule of Angie is that you must complete the full 100 reps before moving on to the next exercise.

Luckily, I got pull-ups first.  Out of the four exercises, this is my weakest point.  I knew once I got those out of the way, followed by 100 push-ups - the rest would be gravy(ish).  I used the green band for assistance, thinking to myself, I really shouldn't have worked so hard on my kipping skill last night.

Next were the push-ups.  I managed 85 "real" push-ups before dropping to my knees for the last 15.  I use "real" loosely because at 85, everything is very real because you're generally on the brink of complete muscle failure.

Next were sit-ups.  They were just eh.  I had to focus on not cheating on these.  It's easy to not get the full range of motion.  But, I knocked them out.

Looking at the clock, it was just over 16 minutes.  My initial mental goal (since I have no point of reference, as this was my first experience with Angie) was under 24 minutes.  Our super-fit girl trainer holds our box's female record at like 16:49, so I thought "under 24 is a good, obtainable goal.")  So, I knew I had eight minutes to get through 100 squats.  I total blazed through those squats in 3 minutes and some change!

Final time:  19:48.   Green Band on Pull-Ups.  15 modified push-ups.  RX squats & sit-ups.
Time collapsed on floor after:  3:12.

  1. Yay!! I like Angie, not sure I've had the opportunity to do this WOD yet. We really need to do dinner some time to talk about this stuff, I was just contemplating how excited I'll be when I can lose the bands and modifications, but it's a fun and exciting thing to know that you can get better every day with CF.

  2. That is awesome and in such quick time too! Gooooo Lauren :)
