Five Percent

Five Percent Loss since 5/23.   Woo-Hoo.

Needless to say, yesterday was a good weigh-in.  When the leader asked me in the meeting what I did to hit my goal, I really didn't know what to say.  "I ate my points, drank more water, and got activity points."  Isn't this what we're supposed to do?

Next goal is 10%.  10% puts me back where I was last fall.  I'm trying not to let that discourage me.  The leader keeps saying 10% usually coincides with your 16 week mark, but I think I will hit that well before.  My goal is another 4-6 weeks to hit that number (not 12 which is how far from 16 weeks I am.)

My transition to a more minimalist style running is "going."  I'm finding it hard to get my weekly drills in and I think that's slowing my progress.  Last weeks class showed a marked improvement over the first class, but I'm still heel-striking and getting a lot of push off.   I'm just going to keep working on it.

In other running news, I found a new run group.  Atlanta Southside Runners.  They are just getting started with a new "beginners" group and I've convinced James to join me on the runs.  Yes, I'm going back to the beginning - but this is an opportunity for us to do this together.  I'm not sure what this means for me and GFA, yet.  I may still make some of the runs.   But, honestly, driving an hour each way to run + seminars, socializing, etc was turning into a half day (or longer) affair.  With ASR, we're done right now by about 8 (and that's waiting for everyone to be finished.)  I can hit the gym for some heavy lifting or hit CrossFit for a Saturday morning class and still be home by 10 or 10:30 at the latest.

Two Saturdays ago, I did the run, lifted heavy at the gym, did an ab/core class, and was home in the shower by 10:15.  I had time to run errands and clean a little house before spending the afternoon with my family at the pool.  That right there is what I'm looking for in my "athletic career."

Balance.

  1. Way to go on the weight loss. I've been doing WW for about 13 weeks and am hovering over the 10% mark.

I feel you on GFA. We dont know that we will rejoin next year since it is out of our way as well. Cathy has mostly been using it for her run training plan for the Savannah half

  3. Congrats on the weight loss - that is awesome! I did GFA for a season when they were running in Gwinnett but could never seem to make the swims and rides since they are so far away. Such a great group, if only they were closer! :)
